Summary
A single dose of psilocybin, paired with brief psychotherapy, was tested for its potential to reduce relapse in alcohol use disorder. In a randomized clinical trial with 37 participants, results showed no significant differences in abstinence or alcohol consumption between the psilocybin and placebo groups. However, both groups reported decreased cravings, hinting at possible benefits of psychedelic-assisted therapy in addiction treatment.
