Summary
Cannabis use is common among people with HIV, and THC, its active compound, shows promise in modulating immune responses. This review highlights how THC influences gene expression and regulation in simian immunodeficiency virus-infected macaques and human cells, potentially reducing inflammation. Findings suggest THC might help manage chronic immune activation in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, pointing to its role as a beneficial immunomodulator.
