Summary
Dissociative states, where awareness and perception become fragmented, can arise in various psychiatric conditions. This study reveals that different experimental methods effectively induce these states, highlighting their potential for research and therapeutic applications. Understanding these techniques could enhance treatment strategies for affected individuals.
Abstract
Objective Dissociative states, characterised by discontinuities in awareness and perception, occur in a diverse array of psychiatric disorders and contexts. Dissociative states have been modeled in the laboratory through various induction methods but relatively little is known about the efficacy and comparability of different experimental methods.
